One of the biggest complaints with a big monitor is that if a stand is too tall and not adjustable, you invariably get a headache from craning your neck upwards. This stand is just about right, neither too tall or too short and should be just fine for most consumers.
While a CD is included, most newer operating systems should be able to recognize it without any issues. If you have an older computer, we do recommend installing the drivers and software on the CD. It’s a good idea to keep the CD in case you ever have an issue with the driver, but a copy is available on Samsung’s site, so it is not a big issue.
On our computer, the model was recognized right away and installed in a matter of seconds. We always like it when something goes off without a hitch, so this was a nice feature for the monitor. We didn’t notice any ghosting on the screen or bad pixilation, so the installation was a success. Very simple – the way that it should be.
The feature list for this monitor is very long, and they’ve done a great job of making sure that this latest model has all the bells and whistles you would expect. If you do, you can take advantage of Magic Tune, a utility supplied by Samsung that makes it very simple to tweak your monitor settings for the best results. For graphic designers or gamers, this is a very nice feature that will ensure you’re getting the best color match possible. You can pick a default calibration standard and the monitor will be adjusted to fit that profile, which is a very useful feature and something that was very appreciated.
The response time was incredibly fast at 5ms, and we found that the monitor held up well to a variety of different programs and situations. We really couldn’t find anything wrong with it, and that is always a pleasant surprise. The screen is bright, the colors are true and there is no bleeding around the edges. You really can’t ask for much more than that.
Overall, we loved this monitor and everything about it. It’s easy to install, quick to respond and has all of the elements needed that make a monitor great. Considering that the street price is under $300, you’re getting quite a good deal. Most stores sell it for closer to $200, so you can pick up a great deal on this 19 incher for the same money you might spend on a 15 or 17 inch monitor.
Samsung always does a good job producing quality products with only a few hit or miss ones every year. Thankfully, this was not a miss and they’ve managed to hit all the right buttons. We appreciated their attention to detail and the quality of products that went into the construction of the monitor. It’s definitely well worth the price and chances are that you won’t be disappointed.
