As much as Americans love their cars, they love auto parts stores even more. If you own a classic car, or if you just like to do the repair work on your own car, chances are you’ll be searching for parts at some time or another. There are a few very well known auto parts sites online, but many people don’t feel comfortable ordering these products online. A store has to have a great return policy and they have to make it easy to find the exact part you’re looking for. Having a great selection that covers a wide variety of makes and models doesn’t hurt either. Can Auto Parts Warehouse stand up to their competition? Let’s find out!
Their about page did leave a lot to be desired. Instead of focusing on who they are, they went with the what we do angle. We would have liked to have seen even a small snippet about the company, how long they have been in business and whether or not they have a physical store. We get that they have a wide variety and many warehouses, but some consumers need to know a little bit more about a company before plunking down their hard earned cash. This is an area that could definitely use some improvement.
Right off the bat you can tell that it’s going to be pretty easy to find what you’re looking for. We were very happy to see that they displayed their toll-free number so prominently. This is an issue that we have with many sites, and by putting that number out there where the entire world can see it, Auto Parts Warehouse redeemed themselves in our eyes. While we still would like to know more about them, we at least get the feeling that they are ready to help customers and you’ll get to speak to a live human being if you need to.
The design feels fresh and they have done a great job of combining new technologies with good old fashioned navigation. Overall, the site creates a great first impression and consumers should feel pretty confident about shopping here.
The design is crisp and clean, not overly image heavy and quick loading. The color scheme was spot on and everything is arranged in a very logical manner. Once again, that toll free number is right where it should be, at the top center of the page and all the links you’ll need to use are there as well. They’ve done a great job of making it easy to see how to track orders, get help and find exactly what you are looking for.
When it came to actually finding a product, we decided to do a search for a 1957 Fiat 500. Since this isn’t the most common car, our expectations on finding anything were pretty low. They actually had an incredibly wide selection of parts, including an air intake filter, a courtesy light kit and even a fuel injector seal kit. That was pretty impressive right there.
Searching for parts is very easy. You simply select the Make, Year and Model and then the results page will have everything divided up for you, by either exterior or interior options as well as by type of the part you are looking for. Clicking on a part name takes you to either the individual part page, or if there is more than one, you can select from different manufacturers.
Individual product pages load quickly and lets you know whether the part is in stock, whether there is a warranty as well as the individual part number.
You’ll be able to pretty much find any auto part you could ever need that has ever been made. From fuel injectors to body tarps to replacement wipers, Auto Parts Warehouse should have you covered. In our random check we found that the vast majority of parts were already in stock. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, you can get a quote on having them find the part you need. We found the selection to be jaw droppingly good and were very impressed with what they have to offer.
Their customer service page could use some work. While we do appreciate the effort of putting that toll-free number up, not everyone wants to call to get help on a question. They could use a new FAQ for customers as well as more information on that page. As it is, you get their address and a brief paragraph. The information is there, it just needs to be organized in a little better way.
They do offer free shipping for orders over $50, which was very nice to see. Some parts can be pretty heavy, so this could save a lot of money. For those that just need one little part, the shipping rates are very reasonable. They offer a thirty day return policy for credit only or replacement, which is to be expected with this type of store. You can request an RMA right from the site, which was another nice feature.
If you’re looking for rare or hard to find parts, this store actually had a surprising selection. They carry a wide variety of parts and we appreciated the ability to put in a quote for anything that you couldn’t find. You’ll be hard pressed to come up empty however, given their selection. The prices were very reasonable and probably cheaper than most local auto parts stores. When you couple this with free and fast shipping, it’s really like being able to shop right in your home town.
The site design was terrific, but the one area that really needs improvement are their pages for customer service, and their company page. With a few brief paragraphs they could launch themselves to the top. As it is, it’s a great place to find auto parts and we were very pleased with the majority of the site.
